The 10K has rich history in Orange County NY and in 1983 Wally Krecidio scheduled two stamp cancellations promoting the running event. This was written up in the TH-Record for June 1983. See the quoted synopsis following.

MIDDLETOWN - No, Virginia, the post office is never open on Sunday. But it will be for the third annual Orange Classic 10 kilometer-race. The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is providing a mobile post office at the entrance to the Orange County Fairgrounds Sunday. There will be a special, one-time pictorial cancellation for collectors presenting envelopes with the proper postage affixed... The cancellation, a philatelic collectible, will be used only on Sunday by the agency before it is destroyed. Read more.
