We are all aware of the bad statistics:

  • 30 percent of U.S. adults 20 years of age and older – over 60 million people – are obese.
  • The percentage of young people who are overweight has more than tripled since 1980.
  • Being overweight or obese increases the risk of many diseases and health conditions, including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, asthma, coronary artery disease, and stroke.
  • What’s true in the U.S. holds true for Orange County residents and The Orange County Department of Health wants to reverse the trend.
  • The Department of Health has introduced the Healthy Orange Campaign to highlight three simple but vital issues to improve the health of Orange County residents:

Eat Healthier • Move More • Be Tobacco Free

The Classic 10K Race Weekend embraces these issues and encourages our citizens to come to the weekend’s festivities at Middletown High School.
